Gravity, animation from video capture that utilized interactive E-textile technology 2012
Gravity is a collaborative dance-video project. The idea was to discover the beauty of gravitational movement of our body and inner power-the *Chi-the breath. Tend to focus on the relationship between breath, movement and visual, leading to patterns of suspension and release, utilizing the body’s natural momentum and authentic knowledge. This work was also a result of Xiaoyuan’s recent research on utilizing wearable E-textile technology – attaching powered LED lights on dancer’s costume, to generate the visual from the dancer’s real movement, then animate the final video to create a timeless experience.
*In Taoism, Chi literally means “air” or “breath”, and as a concept it refers to the energy flow. Every movement needs Chi, so we can hold or release the power as we move.
